Paranormal Romance

Jake Macgregor, head of San Francisco’s Paranormal Special Forces unit is faced with a powerful enemy.  It is an enemy that can destroy the city as well as the world.  Cassia is a DAnu witch who was born to fulfill a destiny.  In order to complete her transition, she must have sex with a male capable of surviving the experience with her.  The male has been chosen but Cassia finds herself drawn to Jake instead.  As Cassia and Jake join forces to fight their enemy, there is a traitor amidst them.

Dark Magic has a memorable lead couple that readers will fall in love with. Jake is a powerful hero with a touch of vulnerability.  He is a man tortured by his past and he is unable to forgive himself for what happened to his men.  Cassia is a lovely heroine with a strong personality.  She is a woman who goes after what she wants.  Jake and Cassia have great chemistry together.  They are fully developed characters with very human emotions. It was enjoyable to watch them together.  We are also given the coupling of Darkwolf and Elizabeth.  Given that Darkwolf is the villain, this reader was intrigued by him and Elizabeth.  It showed softness to his character as she became more and more important to him.  This reader would love to find out what happened to him as his story had an ambiguous ending of sorts.

Dark Magic is the 5th book in the Magic Series featuring witches, elves and demons. There is a lot to like in this story.  The strong storyline, the fast paced action and the unique characters.  My only quibble is the amount of characters floating through the book which could be a distraction if you did not read the earlier books in this series.  For those who have, you will recognize many of the characters and Dark Magic should be on your must read list!
