Contemporary Suspense

When a family friend, a fellow Navy SEAL, was tortured and nearly killed, Ian Richards vowed vengeance and left the SEALs. He wasn’t being egotistical when he said he was the only one who could catch the drug lord. The drug lord was his father, Diego Fuentes, the boss of the Fuentes cartel.

After one night in Atlanta and one delicious kiss, Kira Porter knew she would never forget Ian. Working for the Department of Homeland Security, they’ve invariably crossed paths frequently, and each time, the heat between them burned brighter. When rumors reached her that Ian turned traitor and joined the Fuentes cartel, Kira knew he was working an angle. She just had to figure it out. The government orders her down there, but Kira went for only one reason: to make sure Ian came out alive without doing anything he would regret.

One look and Ian knew Kira would be trouble, but one sizzling touch and he couldn’t resist taking more. When the danger thickened, Kira drove him crazy by refusing to leave. While the terrorist closed in to killing him and his father tried to manipulate him, Ian held firm to the only thing he knew: taking out the bad guys and making love to Kira. As things came to the head, he battled his instinct with what needed to be done. The only thing that mattered was making sure Kira stayed alive, even if it costs him his life.

Two things really stood out in this book for me. The way Ian Richards came alive off the pages, fully formed, with a macho attitude and the personality to pull it off and the dynamic heat between him and Kira. Yawza! The tension between these two pulled me right into their story. The loves scenes scorched the pages of this novel. Kira came across very self assured and able to handle herself until Ian Richards stepped into her life. After that, she fell apart a little for me by frequently changing her mind and beliefs. The story was good, and although I liked the book, I expected more out of them as a couple at the end. This is book five in the SEAL series.
