Cassie Stover knew
her mother needed financial help. Although they weren’t begging for
food, Cassie knew that there were repairs that needed to be done on the
house. Her mother was also raising her younger sister, Elida who would
require more support as the years went by. Determined, Cassie went and
sought work at a textile factory, of which she only lasted three days
due to the frightening dangers she saw happen in the factory.
Finding herself somewhat depressed, Cassie wanders through a park
silently talking to God and questioning what to do next. At that same
moment God begins to work as Cassie is by chance introduced to an
elderly woman by the name of Mrs. Jameson who very suddenly and quickly
employs Cassie on the spot.
Marcus Langford was angry and desperate to find his best friend’s
killer. Information landed him right at the killer’s doorstep but Mark
had no idea how to approach the situation now. While surveying the
killer’s house and grounds, Marks horse suddenly rears up and is
surprised by a beautiful woman, whom Mark later learns is Cassie. Soon
Mark devises a game of pretense that gets more dangerous by the minute
and gets the killer closer to murdering again.
A LADY OF SECRET DEVOTION by Tracie Peterson, was a book that tantalized
you with a game of pretense that had you wondering when, how and why
throughout its composition. The characters were very believable. Ms.
Peterson had your emotions running all over the place with the actions
of the most corrupted characters. A definite read along with the other
books in the series called Ladies of Liberty.
