China Nethercott has just encountered of all things, a ghost dressed in
Roman centurion garb. She believes with all her heart he is really a
ghost. Her late father was a firm believer in ghosts, so she sees
nothing weird in talking to him. Quintus Valerius has been cursed, and
the only way the curse can be lifted is to save one of his descendants
from murder. Something he has not been successful in doing in the
past. Now that he has China to help, maybe this time he will be able to
leave Earth.
Alexander, Major Lord Braddock is the one Quintus has to save. He does
not handle well the fact a woman and a ghost are giving him advice on
how to stay alive. Nor does he feel comfortable having these two
protecting him. China has improper thoughts about the handsome
Alexander which she can not seem to stop. She also learns of the other
half of the curse; her destiny very well could be tied to Alexander’s
and just as deadly.
Quintus does have a plan to prevent Alexander from actually fighting and
getting killed. He plans to injure him and keeping him tucked away to
heal and preventing his murder from happening. China does her part and
stays with Alexander also at the same time trying not to fall in love
with him. Can Quintus finally be able to lift the curse? Can China
evade her part of the curse by not falling in love?
A wonderful regency novel with the element of paranormal. By the end of
the book, readers will believe in ghosts. This is the second book, the
first one Lost in Shadow, featured China’s sister, Jade and her knightly
ghost. The third book will feature Sian, the third sister. Don’t miss
this great series by a most talented author.
