It’s not easy
being the daughter of Charley, a free spirited mom who travels at will
and whim to different movie sets, but someone has to do it and fifteen
year old Scotty Dawn is perfect for the roll. During all the drama of
the movie life and such, Scotty goes on a journey of self discovery even
journaling it on her own blog.
While life on the road allows Scotty the freedom to be and do basically
whatever she wants, she seeks roots. Who is she? What does she come
from? And who is the man Charley runs from? The more she questions
though, the answers aren’t what she expects or really wants.
How can the single mom and the teen daughter find safety and security
while a mysterious past follows them everywhere they go???
No surprise that Lisa Samson delivers a YA novel that surpasses all
generations. I found Scotty a compelling and very three dimensional
teen. I wanted to hug her. I wanted to hug Charley too. That mom’s got
some women issues that need fixing.
The story reads quickly but it’s not fluff. The reader is completely
swept along in the journey with Scotty and her mom and the unique
Hollywood setting is refreshing. A neat summer read for sure.
