Miriam was a young Amish girl in love with her childhood sweetheart. But then he left and went to work in another city where he ended up marring someone else. She was left with a broken heart and everyone considered her an old maid.  

Amos Hilty wants to court Miriam but fears she is too hurt from being jilted to even consider courting anyone else. She meets an interesting reporter named Nick McCormick.  Then she is tempted to leave her Amish faith behind and embark on an exciting journey to a new undiscovered world. Miriam is conflicted about whether to marry Amos Hilty or take a chance on the outside world. 

I enjoyed this book as it gave me a look inside the Amish lifestyle. It provided a very good story line.  The conflict Miriam faced really made you feel for her and her predicament.  I recommend this book to people who are interested in a good inspirational read or who are interested in the Amish people.
