Maggie Newcomb is
not very good at quilting; she takes all the ribbing from the other
quilters in stride. The worst offender is Colby Stoddard’s mother. It
figures as Maggie has a crush on Colby. She does not want to ruin her
chances with him, so when his mother makes smart comments she keeps her
mouth closed.
When Tamara
Brennan comes to town, all the boys including Colby, are flocking to the
new girl. Maggie sees her chance with Colby slipping away. Maggie
devises a highly crafted plan with her friend Evan to even out the
playing field between her and Tamara. The plan creates some unforeseen
consequences for Maggie, who is really her true love Colby, Evan or
someone else?
Sister’s Choice is
the second book in the Patchwork Circle series by the multi-talented
author, Judith Pella. The story is supposedly centered on quilting.
However there did not seem to be much quilting happening as there was in
the first book. Maggie’s character seemed somewhat childlike at the
beginning, and then she blossomed into a mature young woman at the end.
This is a worthwhile read.
