Sarah Woodward couldn’t believe what she was hearing. After traveling all the way from Massachusetts she is told that her “soon to be husband” has now fallen in love with another woman. Seeing how hard it was for the gentleman to even convey this type of news to her, Sarah decided to let him off easily. Although she was angry, she decided that no matter what she would just make the best of it and stay in Kentucky.

Stephen Alden, her childhood friend and a person of whom her parents had always expected for her to marry, followed her to Kentucky in hopes of changing her mind. Sarah as stubborn as she was knew that there was still a purpose for her in the little town of Hickman Creek. Begging her to change her mind, Sarah begins to feel cornered. That is until Rocky Callahan steps in.

Rocky Callahan, a broken, angry man suddenly finds himself somewhere where he doesn’t want to be. Taking care of his deceased sisters’ two kids was not his idea of living. Angry at God and seemingly mad at the entire world, Rocky determines not to let anything or anyone put a chink in his hard-armored heart. But when the two worlds of Rocky Callahan and the wealthy Sarah Woodard collide, things seem to just take off with a mind of their own.

SARAH, MY BELOVED, by Sharlene MacLaren was truly an excellent read. This is the second book in the series, “Little Hickman Creek”. This book flows from the first book smoothly and without flaw. Although you can read this book separately, apart from the series, I truly advise against it. You must read the first to really get the full effect of the storyline and its characters. Again, you fall in love with the characters, the love story and everything surrounding it. Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful! Now, I am terribly eager for the next in the series called “Courting Emma”.
