Lady Samantha
Mayne doesn’t want to be a proper lady. Samantha aids her brother,
George in all his scientific experiments, wear breeches, ride horses
astride and doesn’t want to marry. Lord Charles Laverstock is
everything a girl could want and that includes Samantha. However can
Charles be interested in a girl who is the exact opposite of what a man
wants in a wife?
Samantha is an
unusual female especially for her time. She eschews the feminine
aspects of her gender. She comes across as a free-spirit, enjoying life
to the fullest. However everything changes when Charles comes into her
life. Samantha does what she can to win him over. Charles is described
as handsome and charming. He is clearly a man that women would want and
pursue. The coupling of Charles and Samantha is an interesting one. The
attraction between them is quite apparent from the onset. The author
develops their story slowly and they grow on the reader. For those who
want lots of eroticism in their romance novels, you won’t find that in
this book. The romance can be described as “sweet” and “innocent”.
This is definitely a book for those who don’t want to be read graphic
sexual action.
Queen of the May
is a traditional regency novel. It was first published in 1989 and has
been republished in hardback in 2007. For those who enjoy their
romances with lots of character development and a strong storyline, this
book is definitely for you.
