Gwendolyn knew
from an early age what destiny had in story for her – guardianship of
Avalon. But when she was trapped in wolf form for a year by Deep Magic,
she knew being forced to stay on an island indefinitely would destroy
her. When Roman soldiers were on the verge of discovering Avalon and the
old counsel refused to take action, she knew she needed to take the
necessary measures to protect her home. A dream from the lady led her to
the answers: the use of Deep Magic and a magical sword. But to create
the sword, she needed the help of Marcus, the man she had fantasized
about for over a year.
A Roman and a
smith by trade, Marcus Ulpius Aquila believed any type of magic was
evil. He knew first hand, since it nearly destroyed his family years
ago. But when his sister was struck down with crippling visions, he was
willing to do anything to help her. Even if it meant working with the
beautiful Gwen and fashioning her a sword of magic.
Everyone said Deep
Magic was evil and the root of all their problems. Gwen knew it was the
answer to defeating the Romans. Together with Marcus, they journey back
to Avalon with the sword only steps ahead of the Roman soldier hunting
them. But when they became separated, Marcus realized he would be
willing to use the magic in the sword if it meant saving Gwen.
Deep Magic is a
wonderfully, fantastic story that easily pulled me into the characters
lives. The tension between the Gwen and Marcus popped off the page and
grew with each chapter. The story had just enough history to make it
believable but not overwhelm. After reading this book, I’ll definitely
have to buy book one. Highly recommended.
