New York 1841
Kassandra is a
child of the Five Points in New York. She has known hunger, begged for
food and sleeps out in the open in all types of weather. When she meets
Reverend Joseph she sees a glimmer of hope, he is offering her his
home. She learns bible verses to get to attend school, life if starting
to look good to her. She makes a life changing decision.
She is thrust into
a world God-fearing people don’t want to know about. She lives in a
run-down one room and is forced to become a prostitute. She suffers
more than she has ever before. Somehow she manages to escape this and
heads out to California for a fresh start and a new name, Sadie.
As Sadie live does
not get easier, it just seems to be harder than when she was Kassandra.
Sadie wonders if you cross the line can you ever go back and receive
forgiveness or are you doomed forever.
This is not for
the faint of heart. It deals with the underbelly of society:
prostitution, drugs, and abuse. It is not your average Christian
fiction. It’s gritty, more realistic, and edgier. Keep the tissues
handy.
