On a yearly
camping trip, David Hardway found a wolf caught in a trap. After
rescuing the animal, he couldn’t help feel responsible for her. He knew
he couldn’t keep a wild animal as a pet and mourned the loss when he
released her back into the wild.
All Veronica knew
was how to run and be free. As a wolf, she lived one day at a time,
unable to remember anything from her past. That was until she met David.
A yearning to meet him as a human grew inside her, but Veronica knew she
wasn’t ready. She had been wolf too long. She needed to practice being
human again first.
On a camping trip
with his nephew, Linc, David ran across his wolf. He knew it should have
been impossible, but it seemed that she remembered him. He tried to push
aside the mystery and focus on his troubled nephew. Apparently Linc
hacked into a bank’s computer system and now believed someone has placed
a hit on him. When a strange woman appeared out of nowhere, David
couldn’t help but be suspicious.
The first meeting
didn’t go as well as Veronica had hoped, only David’s inherent goodness
kept him from kicking her out of his campsite. The longer they spent
time together, the more David’s suspicions grew. She knew it was only a
matter of time before he found out about her secret. When the mystery of
her past was slowly revealed, Veronica feared she will not only loose
David’s trust, but the last of her humanity as well.
Jorrie Spencer has
created some wonderful characters. Their emotions were so vivid and
realistic, I couldn’t help be pulled into their lives. I love David and
Veronica separate, but they made the perfectly matched couple. The
tension steadily grew through the novel and the pacing kept me turning
the pages. If you read a story for fascinating characters and want to be
entertained, don’t miss book two in the strength series, Strength of the
Wolf.
