I’ve been looking
for a book like this for a long time. I’ve often envied the people in
the Old Testament who heard God's audible voice until I remembered that
Scripture often compares God's voice to thunder! Priscilla Shirer
discusses the many ways we can hear God's still small voice. Discerning
the Voice of God is divided into five parts:
Hearing God's Voice
Communicating with God Today
Revealing God's Character
Discovering God's Plan
Responding to God's Voice
Quotes from Christians (A Saint Speaks) and Scripture passages (God
Speaks) are interspersed throughout the book. Subheads and bulleted
lists provide easy reading. The entire book was informative and
inspirational, but Shirer's guidelines for hearing God (p. 63) were most
helpful to me.
A quote from final pages: It’s all about relationship. The more intimate
your relationship with God, the more clearly you’ll discern His voice.
I can sincerely and heartily recommend this book to anyone seeking to
hear God's voice. It would make a great gift or addition to any church
library.
