It’s 1897 and
Alaska is in the middle of a gold rush. Noah Wesley has made his home
here in the Alaskan wilderness, and when winter settles in, there are
few visitors. Strange noises bring him to his door where he finds a
young woman, half frozen to death. Noah successfully struggles to bring
her back to life. Elizabeth, the mysterious snow angel, has “gold fever”
and is determined not to let anything or anyone get in her way of
becoming rich.
Love,
determination, long kept secrets and shame – strong driving forces for
anyone. These forces catapult Elizabeth, Noah and others into the wilds
of Alaska during the tumultuous gold rush years. As Elizabeth discovers
more about herself, she is challenged to allow love to open her guarded
heart.
I enjoyed SNOW
ANGEL. The characters of Noah, Elizabeth and her nemesis Joe provide a
good balance between good and evil, kindness and torture, love and hate.
Good prevails, even when it is challenged from many directions.
The book has a
description of a rape scene in it that may be too offensive or violent
for younger readers. (p.81)
I had a little
trouble with how some of the lines of the book were chopped off at the
end of a page – leaving the next sentence either incomplete or not
following the story.
