Gabrielle Maxwell
has always felt different than her friends, and tonight is no
exception. At a new nightclub to celebrate a photography showing of her
work, Gabrielle can’t relax so leaves, only to witness a murder right
outside the club. No one else sees it, and no one believes her but she
knows what she saw. If she didn’t know that they didn’t exist, she’d
swear she saw vampires.
Vampire Lucan
Thorne comes to her and she believes he’s the police. She trusts him
and is desperately attracted to him, but has no idea what he really is.
As their relationship develops Lucan comes to realize that she has the
mark of a Breedmate, and she has no idea.
The vampire war
between good and evil is escalating and Gabrielle is in more danger than
she realizes. Lucan must protect her, which would mean telling her the
truth. But losing her isn’t an option anymore.
KISS OF MIDNIGHT
is the first in a trilogy for Lara Adrian, and her first vampire
stories. She’s definitely found her groove – she writes vampire as if
she’s done it for years. Her characters are strong and the male ones
are really written well. The bond between Lucan and his friends was so
well done it was like knowing them rather than reading about them. I’d
like to feel more for Gabrielle – she’s independent and strong, but
doesn’t really have the depth of Lucan.
That aside, I
whipped through KISS OF MIDNIGHT because I couldn’t put it down.
