The one thing
Lucas Murray wanted most in the world was justice against the woman who
not only betrayed him but tried to kill him. After a severe beating that
took a year to recover, Lucas returned to the place of the crime for two
reasons. One was to seek retribution. The second was to try to forget
the woman he couldn’t stop loving and move on with his life.
Katerina Haldane
inherited a large fortune. Unfortunately, someone doesn’t want her to
fulfill the terms of the will. When the man she loved died, Kat felt as
if her life ended as well. Left for dead, Kat decided to stay buried,
bidding her time until she could fight back. The attack came from inside
her family, and Kat knew she would do whatever it took to survive and
take back the castle meant to be hers.
As a year passed,
Kat and Lucas came together again in less then happy times. In order to
survive, they must learn to put aside their differences – for the people
who had tried to kill them were determined to finish the job.
Hannah Howell has
a very unique writing style that I found very enjoyable. The plot read
realistically and made me want to find out more. Unfortunately, Lucas
and Katerina had a lot of outside help to solve their problems, taking
away some of the tension and suspense. I couldn’t help feel that the
conflict between the main characters could have been solved if they had
sat down at the beginning of the book and talked.
