Essie
Spreckelmeyer lives her life listening to her own drum. She rides her
bike; she fondly refers to as Peg (short for Pegasus), slides down
banisters and has caught her fair share of snakes. It will take very
understanding, patient man to be wed to her.
Essie has decided
it will be up to her to find a husband; she lists the pros and cons of
the eligible men in her town of Corsicana, Texas. She bikes her way
through her list and along the way she learns she made an error in
judgment, she also learns the act of forgiveness and God may have a
different plan for her if she would just learn to put her trust in Him.
The secondary
characters are as charming as Essie. The orphan Harley and Essie’s
Uncle Melvin are charming to the end. There are laugh out loud moments
and some tissue moments during Essie’s adventures. Deanne Gist is
talented writer; she knows what will keep her readers coming back for
more.
