Alissa Ffolkes is exceedingly shy. Her first
Season in London was a total disaster because of her retiring nature.
Alissa is more than happy to rusticate in the country, passing time with
her beloved pets, but her father wants more for her than that. She has
no use for London’s fancy parties and endless social gatherings, yet he
insists that she should try harder.
When Lord Ives comes for a visit to study Alissa’s
father’s sheep, Alissa is immediately put out of her comfort zone. She
admires the tall attractive lord, yet she finds she cannot summon the
nerve to hold a simple normal conversation with him. Yet, when
unfortunate events find Alissa injured and unable to walk, at the mercy
of her uncaring parents and selfish sister, she finds out that Lord Ives
is indeed a true gentleman.
Thrown together by circumstance, Alissa and Lord
Ives form a tentative bond. Could it be that Alissa only needed the fuel
of genuine admiration in order to thrive?
THE GALLANT LORD IVES was a wonderfully sweet
romance. Author Emily Hendrickson has crafted a Cinderella story of a
shy young miss without many prospects rescued by a dashing hero. THE
GALLANT LORD IVES possesses all of the elements of a highly enjoyable
read: a dashing lord, a heroine in need of rescue, a wonderfully
detailed setting and a budding romance. Readers of sweet Regency
historical fiction will not be disappointed in THE GALLANT LORD IVES.
