Dinah Mayhew has moved to Chicago for several
reasons: to have some excitement, for a job at the fair, and to locate
her father. This sounded much more fun than living on her uncles
farm. She wasn’t there to find a man and get married, she just
wanted some fun for a change. Then
she meets Seth Howell, a preacher who faithfully serves the lower class.
Everything is sailing along fine until Dinah’s cousin, Gladys shows up
and is looking for love in all the wrong places.
When Gladys has not been seen for a while, Dinah knows it will be up to
her and Seth to track her down, the police don’t feel its an emergency.
In the midst of their searching, they stumble upon a secret which may
put them in harms way. Seth has a bad habit of overprotecting
Dinah, which in the end may cost him not only his heart but also his
life. Dinah must expose this secret in time before she puts herself and
others in mortal danger.
Great book! The adventure, romance, mystery does not stop until
the last page. A must read for fans of Carol Cox and fans of
historical mysteries.Reviewed by
