Marissa is shocked to find out that her father is alive and living on the planet Darinth. Her mother is dead and she longs to meet her only surviving relative, but Darinth is legendary for male dominance and their submission of women. Marissa reluctantly agrees to visit the planet after reassurances of her safety from her father. What she doesn’t expect, however, is to be kidnapped by a powerful dominant named Kytar in a political power play.
Kytar is surprised too – he thought this would be a simple political strategy but his attraction to the off-worlder is stronger than anything he’s felt for a woman before. He decides Marissa is his, and he’s not going to let her go.
This book starts of with a good premise. I really liked the scene where she waits at the space port’s arrival area. The scene was so well written that I felt like I was watching a movie or was even there in person. I just wish the rest of the book was just as good. Kade tries to give her readers a good story but in my opinion it could have used some plot doctoring. Aside from a few copyediting mistakes and a continuity error, her writing style is easy to read, but I found it hard to believe that Marissa would suddenly fall in love with Kytar after fighting so hard to escape. Unlike similar stories by authors like Jaid Black, Cheyenne McCray, and Anne Rice, at no point did it seem like Marissa was finding pleasure in learning to submit. Only until towards the end of the book did it seem like Marissa and Kytar had chemistry.
