Paranormal Erotic Romance

CURSE OF THE GARGOYLE by Tara Nira

Ericka Russell has devoted her life to debunking myths. So when her aunt purchased a castle in Scotland, Ericka can’t help but be intrigued, especially when she learned it came with a mystery. Because she hated to travel, her aunt sent her a diary to entice her and sweeten the deal. When dreams about a hunky highlander invaded her sleep, Ericka knew she had no choice. Ready or not, Scotland, here she comes. The mystery of the missing MacKinnon family was too much to resist.

Gavin MacKinnon woke to a strange world, at the mercy of two women. Cursed to live half of his life cast in stone, he’s desperate to find the rest of his family and seek vengeance. Too bad he was two hundred years too late. The beautiful Ericka tempted him beyond reason, nearly driving him to madness. Together, they search for a way to break the curse. But someone doesn’t want Gavin freed and would do anything to stop them. When Ericka put herself in danger because of him, Gavin vowed to do everything in his power help her. Even if it’s at his own expense.

The writing could have been tightened to avoid confusion and repetition, but the story idea drew me into the novel. Gavin is a very likable hero, his predicament was heart wrenching at times and his experiences were portrayed very life like. Ericka’s prolonged denial of what happened throughout the book made it hard for me to sympathies with her. Unfortunately, a lot of the sex scenes seemed to be added in for effect, and didn’t moving the story forward. The secondary characters were so well developed, they stole a lot of the scenes. Overall, I’m always intrigued by gargoyles and this story is no exception.
