Most city streets are dangerous in the dark, but in the streets of Necropolis a walk down the street could mean meeting a vampire or werewolf. This is where Caine Valorian and his Otherworld Crime Unit work to solve crimes and find justice. When a human girl is found ritually murdered, Valorian and his talented team must investigate the case while learning to work together with a human from the San Antonio crime lab. Things get even more complicated when sparks begin to fly between the human, Eve Grant, and Valorian.
Blood Secrets is an intriguing mix of vampire story and CSI. The mystery is well planned and the action is gripping. Vivi Anna also made sure her Otherworld has a solid back story and well-thought out system of magic. I also liked the way she addressed prejudices on both sides between the members of the Otherworld Crime Unit and humans. My only criticism is that I thought the last quarter of the story was rushed, probably due to the book length constraints of a Silhouette book. Despite this, I thought this book made a great beginning for a promising series, and I look forward to the next one in the series.
