Claire Everett is a currently, nonworking novelist. She is getting married soon and goes to buy the wedding dress of her dreams. Unfortunately, the dress she finally finds after trying on many, but it’s an exclusive and costs an unbelievable five thousand dollars. Meanwhile her fiancé, Greg, is in Bible school to become a pastor and has been offered a job as an interim pastor at a small church. If he accepts it will count as an internship towards his final school grade. The only hitch is he’d have to pastor from early June through August and it would cancel their two week Hawaiian honeymoon after their June wedding. Greg feels he is just following God’s plans but Claire isn’t so sure. Claire is also raising her four children.
Claire gets a wrong number which turns out to be a blessing in disguise. It’s an elderly woman looking for her dog walker. Claire offers to come walk the dog for nothing just so the lady doesn’t have to do it for herself. Before long Claire has a nice side job to fund that wedding dress. As the story progresses Claire learns to lean more on God’s will for herself than her own.
I enjoyed reading this. Claire reminded me a lot of myself. She was always questioning God’s choices for her life versus her own. She was never quite sure which way to go next.
