Cassandra Palmer was on the run from her past. Raised in a nest of vicious vampires, she has learned not to trust anyone. Ever since she inherited the title of Pythia, the world’s chief clairvoyant, everyone wanted something from her. Though she might have gained access to unlimited power, everyone knew that there was always a cost to using magic. Cassie refused to be caught in that sticky trap and refrain from activating and claiming the position.
Because Cassandra wasn’t trained for the job, many people objected to the new heir. Magical mages, the Fey, vampires and fairy-tale creatures galore, all wage a battle of their own. Unfortunately, one side wanted her dead; the other wanted to control her. To survive, Cassie needed to find out just who was trying to killer her. Or maybe the better question might be who wasn’t?
To complicate matters worse, a vampire has placed a powerful geis on her. The geis was a spell to ward against prospective suitors. Now, to ascend to power, Cassie had to lose her virginity. The geis was forcing her to find a man, one the vampire pre-approved, and, unfortunately, the magic of the Pythia wouldn't let her refuse. Cassie must accept her new life or, not only risk losing her sanity but her friends' lives as well.
Karen Chance is a new writer that you want to watch. Claimed by Shadow is the sequel to Touched the Dark and both were a joy to read. Karen’s writing style is brilliant. Every word, every page mattered, so much so, that I wouldn’t miss a minute of it. The complex story kept me on the edge of my seat, and I loved every moment. Fabulous, complex characters, wonderful storytelling, and phenomenal talent, makes this one for the keeper shelf.
