Romantic Suspense

SIGHT UNSEEN by Samantha Graves

Raven Callahan is not above thievery to reclaim stolen art. It is her job to recover the stolen items and she is very good at what she does. Her current assignment is to accompany Walter Abbot, a fellow associate to an auction. They will try to purchase the artwork legally but Raven has another option if that falls through. Dax Maddox, an ex-cop, is also attending the same auction. He is looking for the people responsible for his partner’s death. He recognizes Raven as the thief he caught last year. Raven loses the painting as well as Walter when he is kidnapped. Raven and Dax are forced to work together to find out who is behind the kidnapping.

Raven is a kick-ass heroine. Not only is she beautiful but she is a smart woman with a psychic talent. She can pick up emotions from objects. This has caused her to insulate herself from the world. It is not hard to imagine how difficult it would be to touch something and be bombarded by the feelings of the previous owners. The hardness that she projects to the world hides the softer side of her. There are moments where you see glimpses of her vulnerability – when Walter is kidnapped, her dealings with her family or when she meets Dax’s family. Dax comes across as the tough guy as you would expect from a cop. However, the death of his partner preys on his mind and soul. It is the guilt he feels and the need for revenge that drives him. Dax is a man worth loving as his character is fleshed out. Raven and Dax make a terrific twosome and the chemistry between them is intense. Ms. Graves does a superb job of developing and exploring her two lead characters. The reader can empathize and root for them.

Sight Unseen is a tightly woven and suspenseful novel. The storyline is full of twists and turns as we follow Raven and Dax on their journey. It moves at a quick pace that will keep readers riveted to the story. This was a very enjoyable story that will win new fans for Ms. Graves!
