In need of a new field hand, Promise sent her foreman to acquire a large slave. They did as told and Promise found herself the owner of a Gryffin. The creature was huge. Even unconscious, he was devastatingly attractive. Promise could barely hold herself in check from reaching out and touching him. So when asked a question, she didn’t really pay attention and gave an order to have his venomous barbs clipped.
To save the life of his friend, Tranth sold himself into slavery. The one thing he never expected was to be drugged. Unfortunately, the drugs were not enough to cover the horror that happened to him. The hackles on his knuckles where sheared away. They were not only important for helping protect his kind, they were an integral part of the Gryffin’s mating ritual.
Tranth woke to a beautiful woman watching over him. He wanted her, even after learning she purchased him. But the attraction was pure torture. Not only did he know it was improper, each time he became aroused, his hackles tried to pull back. The pain was exquisite. Tranth thought she was worth it. Until he learned of her betrayal. Now, in order to receive his forgiveness and win back his love, Promise would do anything. Even wear a slave collar and travel to his home. The journey tests her resolve and could ultimately cost her life. But she has come to learn the love of a Gryffin might be worth anything.
Madison Hayes has crafted characters that really captured my attention. Tranth doesn’t only sound sexy, but he is a kind of man that would do anything for his woman. Although the characters were not always likable, they were very much true to character and I liked it. Some of the writing could have been tightened, but it detracted very little from the great storytelling. Great imagery, hot sex personalized toward its characters, high tension and believable emotions all add up to a wonderful ending.
