As a Tarot card reader and a gypsy, Clair Ivers life has never been … well … normal. So when a woman and her friend came for a reading about a wedding, Clair didn’t suspect a thing. Until the friend told her she wanted Clair to lie, even tried to bribe her. No, thank you. The potential bride-to-be had an agenda of her own. Clair would either tell her to call off the wedding or she would kill herself. Clair wanted them gone. Until the potential bride left behind her ring - with the grooms address. Left with no choice, Clair went to find the groom and return it.
The instant she laid her eyes on the man, her fantasies grew wings. Soon, one embarrassing moment after another, Clair found herself in a tangle. Even after she explained there was no wife, no one called off the wedding. Because of a misunderstanding, Clair now found herself as a stand-in for the bride. But as the tangle became more twisted, Clair can’t help but wonder why couldn’t she take a chance at love? That was until she kissed the best man. Sparks fly and she wondered if she might have chosen the wrong man after all.
The author portrayed Clair as a bit scattered and the effect made me became more involved with the characters. The embarrassing situations made me squirm and groan but in a good way. The overall outcome made the book a humorous read. From a psychic doubting her gift, from men alternating fight for her attention then suspecting her of fraud, Accidentally Engaged kept me on my toes. If you want a quick, enjoyable read that entertains until the end, make sure you pick up your copy of this wonderful novel by Mary Carter.
