TALKING WITH THE DEAD by Shiloh Walker

A psychic connection to his brother was all that kept Michael O’Rourke alive. That connection broke the day his brother died. Unfortunately, Michael saw it first hand through his brother’s eyes. It changed him drastically, allowing him to see ghosts. Hunted and haunted by the dead, Michael O’Rourke’s life has never been smooth. As an adult, he did what he was meant to do … catch their killers and bring the dead the justice they deserve.

After the death of her friend, sheriff Daisy Crandall would do anything to catch the killer. It was her job to protect everyone and she failed dismally. Determined that it never happened again, Daisy looked at everyone as a suspect. So when a handsome but secretive man arrived in her town, and later shows up at the crime scene, she wanted answers.

Fearing for his sanity, Michael craved peace. Small town America should be the perfect place. But within minutes, darkness filled him and he knew something evil lurked in the shadows. Unable to ignore the ghost’s desperate plea, Michael started to investigate and met Daisy. From the first moment, he knew there was something special about her. The last thing he would have expected was to find a woman who could believe and understand him. But the killer took a new victim and he came to realize his life was never going to be his own. To stop a killer, he risked loosing the only thing he has come to care about … Daisy.

The great pacing and the increasing tension really keeps the reader turning the pages. All the characters read very well, but what made Talking with the Dead come alive was when Michael and Daisy shared a scene. They sparked off one another so well that I couldn’t wait to turn the pages to see what happens next. I love the psychology behind Michael’s character. Overall, the unique storyline, fabulous characters and wonderful writing made this a book not to be missed.
