Gillian never wanted marriage, but at her father’s request she agreed to marry Evan. Rue it was not the blissful marriage a woman hoped for but Gillian was already considered past the age of expecting all those foolish young girl notions on marriage It was a contract Evan got a handsome dowry for marrying her and in return Gillian got a drunk for a husband. He would rather spend his time at the pub than tending the farm and now with her eight months along with child Gillian was still doing all the chores around the house as well as the farm.
Maybe her prayers were answered when she was captured and taken aboard the Viking ship. Seeing Evan’s lifeless body on the ground as she was taken to the awaiting boat Gillian had no sorrow of his death yet knew she had to survive not just for herself but for the child she carried.
Andor the leader of the ship had just only days early experienced the death of his young wife Astrid in a storm at sea. His young wife was accompanying him to Iceland and a new life they would have together as they awaited the birth of their first child, now both were gone. When Gillian appeared on the ship marriage was the furthest thing from Anodor’s mind yet he knew he could not let her fall to the hands of his cousin Leif who would make her his slave in more ways then the obvious. So protect this woman and her child Andor married Gillian on the ship, securing her safety until they reached Iceland.
Alone and far from her homeland Gillian found that her new husband was not at all like the stories she had heard, he was kind, gentle and slowly she began to care for him.
Andor also found that this woman with the fiery hair not only had courage she had the power to bring out passions in him he hadn’t felt in a long time.
Could these two find love and happiness after their sorrow or will a green envy sneak up into their lives and plant it’s seed in their happiness?
Passion, romance and suspense are in every page of this book keeping the reader captured as if Andor’s men had taken them aboard the ship. The character of Gillian has a strong presence throughout the story readers will be drawn to her immediately. Ms. Snodgrass is an excellent author and have enjoyed many of her works and this is up there with the others a wonderful story that shows the bonds on the heart will always bring true love together in any time frame whether it be in the past centuries or present day.
