PACK CHALLENGE by Shelly Laurenston

Zach Sheridan has plans for the future. As a shifter, he was determined to make alpha leader in the Magnus Pack. But that wasn’t going to happen if he had to wait and baby-sit a human. Seated at the bar, Zach watched as his target, Sara Morrighan, get drunk. Although scared, the woman remained a looker. Things were going fine up until two men showed up. Before he could even stand, Sara disappeared out the door with the help of the two men.

With the death of her grandmother, Sara’s life has made a turned for the better. Mostly, that is, except for the excruciating pain her long ago injuries caused. Each day, her temper came closer to the boiling point. She needed to blow off steam before she exploded. But being kidnapped at a local bar was not her idea of a fun evening. That was until she was rescued by ‘pretty boy’. Drunk and more than a little attracted to him, Sara would have gladly let him take advantage of her drunken state. Only life, and her so called friends, step in the way.

Unaware of her unusual past, Sara doesn’t understand what was happening to her. She wanted a fun, peaceful life. Instead, she became embroiled in what became the fight for her life. Each day the pain of her childhood injuries worsened. So does her anger. Zach watched her struggle to understand her past. The more he learned about her, the more he unwillingly fell under her spell. Refusing to watch her suffer alone, he does all he can to help her. For he feared if she doesn’t survive the change, she would go insane and need to be killed. The past came alive and together, they must battle for a place in the future - Against the pack, against her friends, and against their feelings of doubt. To lose means to lose everything, including their lives.

Tight, clean writing made the Pack Challenge a fantastic read. The plot and setting fit the novel perfectly. All the characters were superb. Not only are each very individual and unique, they each have their own quirks that make them come alive right on the page. The main characters surpass a lot of what is on the market and I couldn’t help but love both of them. They are perfectly match in both strength, body and mind. To be warned, some of the language is a bit graphic but I couldn’t help feel it matched the characters personality. For an entertaining read with both romance, drama, wonderful humor and a bit of suspense, make sure you pick up Shelly Laurenston’s, Pack Challenge.
