As Prince Nicolai Edward Alexandrov prepared for his coronation, the counsel has a demand of their own. Before they will crown him king, he has to marry. It’s all because of the Curse. A stupid superstition. For the kingdom of Vallanova to remain prosperous, the two leading families need to wed. Nicolai has discredited it until the kingdom hits hard times.
Lady Bronwyn Montgomery was not an average woman. Ridiculed and humiliated during her first London season, she took refuge at home and refused to leave her house. That was five years ago. Her life became a bit more interesting when a new, handsome footman took up residences in her home. The more she came to know him, the more her fears began to fade. Until she faced the decision to visit London. All the old fears and insecurities come to the fore, more disabling than ever.
Nicolai’s plan started off as a means to an end. That was until he met the beautiful Bronwyn. Instead of sweeping her off her feet, he wanted her to come to him whole and confident. To do so, he has to show her how to live and survive outside her comfort zone. It also meant he has to keep his secrets. But as time passed, the more danger his kingdom faced. To save Vallanova, he has to act now, but to do so could cost him the love of Lady Bronwyn.
My footman, My Prince is an enchanting read. Both characters are enduring, three dimensional people with real problems and real concerns. Although this is not a book for those of you who are a stickler for historical accuracy, I found the story highly entertaining. Some of the writing could have been a little tighter, but if you want an engaging novel to sweep you away to another time, Nicolai and Bronwyn’s story is the one for you. For a gentle historical romance that has a touch of humor, a bit of spice and a happy ever after, make sure you read Robin Danner.
