Emma Grace Falin is just three weeks away from getting married. She needs to put closure on something which happened when she was younger. She has returned to her hometown of Coldwater, Texas to do just that, and then maybe she can stop of having deep feelings of shame and guilt and move on with her life. After the tragedy, her family feared for her, she had gone into such a deep depression, they feared if they did not get her away from Coldwater, she too would be gone from them, they sent to her grandmothers’ in Galveston, Texas. While there healing she meets a young man by the name of Tate.
Tate sees Emma is hurting deeply, he just doesn’t know why. She refuses to open up to him; she has basically closed herself off from everyone. He starts telling her about love and about the blessings God has for her, she doesn’t feel worthy of any love or blessing from God because of what happened. Tate keeps on, and he soon sees changes happening to Emma, its slow work, he however feels he can not give up.
As Tate and Emma spend time together, she is slowly realizing what happened was not her fault, she also is starting to realize maybe she is about to marry the wrong man, her future husband dos not seem to as caring and gentle as Tate, she is falling in love with him, when Emma is summoned home for an emergency, she does not have time to tell him why. She fears she will never see Tate again, she must find a way to track him down and tell him how she feels. Tate does not know what happened to Emma, he is fearful she has married the man she thought she was in love with. How will these two people be able to reconnect and have what they both want.
What a wonderful book. You could feel Emma Grace’s pain, anger, depression go through their course. While it may seem hard at times to read Emma’s story, the reader will be very satisfied by the ending. This is Nancy Jenkins debut novel.
