The detective of all detectives Sherlock Holmes accepts an interesting case when he investigates, discovers, and reveals the reality of Jesus Christ and the salvation He offers.
Told in the fashion of traditional Holmes mystery, Grave takes Watson and Holmes BACK in time (via a time travel device) to witness and investigate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and to ultimately determine if He was the Son of God.
(I’m not a fan of this genre at all, and I found the writing style almost cumbersome. But, I know this is the style of past mysteries and people enjoy them very much. I am a huge fan of Christianity and God and Jesus, though and this is, in my opinion where this book shines.)
The way Holmes and Watson banter about God, Jesus and the reality of the death and resurrection is outstanding and borders on the edge of apologetics. In fact, the arguments used By Watson are one’s that I’ve encountered when talking to various people about faith. Holmes investigates each and every claim and idea to counter and prove the truth.
An Opened Grave gives us actually two stories in one book. One fiction and one reality. The author’s meshing the two, as well as weaving the past and present together is neatly done and makes this a smooth, but compelling read.
