Poor Paige Williams. She’s moved to small town Lake Kanner and only desires one thing really - a friend. In this small close knit community of somewhat idiosyncratic folk friendship should be easy to find. However, Paige is hiding from her past and fearful to step into the present or move into the future. And, on this day, in the early morning hours, when she heads to her hot tub for a few moments of relaxation, Paige discovers something that will forever change her life. And, it’s not pretty.
Brandilyn Collins writes fast and furious spurring the reader to reach the end, which is usually a twist that is unexpected. Violent Dawn is no different that her previous books, however, I found the story a bit easier to read in that the suspense was real and hooked me, but didn’t make me squirm. The characters are delightfully unique and I will admit meeting Black Mamba did perhaps make me squirm just a bit.
Ms. Collins has also developed a site for this series that has a treasure of info about everything Kanner Lake.

Violet Dawn is a must read for anyone who enjoys being scared and satisfied by a superb story. Can’t wait for book number two!
