A VASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY by Cathy Elliot

Sweet Thea James is as unique a heroine as you can find. Perfectly suited for the life of owning and running an antique shop in small town Larkindale California, Thea does ordinary things in extraordinary ways, continually spinning her life a little off kilter. She’s far from perfect, leaving piles of clean laundry on her furniture and worrying about what people will think if they see it, is just one of her regular-people quirks. Her love life is almost non-existent and when it seems like there might be sparks of affection well, circumstances douse it.

Other characters: Pete, the towns homeless guy who brings Thea ‘treasures’ he’s found at the dumb etc., and she exchanges them for coupons for dinners etc. The most recent load yields a beautiful vase. Inside the vase is rolled up piece of paper. On the paper are names. Thea’s, her sister’s and two friends. Yellow with age the paper is a mystery itself, but at the same time one of the friends list ends up in a coma and the other disappears. Thea wonders if she and her sister is next. Gram who is a little eccentric.  Cole – ummmmm yeah, Cole is yummy and adds a omph to the plot and Thea’s life.

A Vase of Mistaken Identity is a classic cozy mystery. Thea is a delightful heroine and follows clues in a logical manner. But the nice thing is her realness. I leave clean laundry piles out on occasion and have been known to chase down my cat in my slippers. I love her kindness toward the homeless guy too. The setting is quaint, I would love to visit her shop!

As I have no choice, I will patiently wait for book number two.

Oh and a free quilt pattern is included!
