Shanna Quinn has always known she’s too small to be a police officer, but that hasn’t stopped her from wanting a life fighting crime. Her current plan is to get a job in the security department at Renault Industries and use the experience to help her start her own PI business in the future.
She’s going to get her chance sooner than she expects, because the VP of Research and Development – and the founders brother – is in over his head in gambling debts. His young daughter has been kidnapped, the ransom being the programming code to a secret project Renault is working on for the government. When owner Royce Renault agrees to let Shanna find his niece, she jumps at the chance to prove herself as a PI. What she isn’t so confident about is whether she can handle the heat between herself and Royce.
SPITFIRE is a fast paced and exciting story that skillfully blends adventure and romance. Without getting too deep into computer industry details, the author has given just enough background to be convincing, keeping the relationships and action in the forefront.
Shanna is a strong woman skilled in self defense, but she doesn’t always win the day, making her human and likeable. She might have come to some conclusions a bit too easily but she defiantly earned back those points with her strong character. Royce is sexy, smart and has a huge heart, and while I didn’t agree with his decision not to go to the authorities to find his niece, it was his to make and he played it through very well.
Arianna Hart gets high marks for SPITFIRE. For fast paced adventure mixed with high powered romance, you really can’t go wrong here.
