Myles Donal doesn’t want to wed the harridan that his father has picked out for him, and only defeat at the hands of his Honor Guard has made him agree to do it. Battered, bruised and weary, he leaves his Honor Guard to the care of a noxious innkeeper, and sneaks off into the heart of a blizzard to go meet his unwanted betrothed.
Kendran is good at running away – very, very good – since she’s practiced the skill since she was just a child. This time, however, running away has gotten her stuck in a blizzard! Although, considering who her father had picked to marry her off to, dying in the freezing cold might just be a vast improvement to the alternative.
Kendran is good at making the most of the situation, though, so she manages to find shelter and settle herself in for the duration of the winter storm. When Myles Donal breaks down her makeshift door, and then falls face-first into an unconscious, feverish heap, Kendran has no choice but to try to nurse the huge lout back to health. Along the way, she discovers that men are not the hated entity she’d always imagined, and the desires of the flesh can burn hotter than she’d ever dreamed.
Myles, deducing that Kendran is his bride, allows himself to fall for her harder than he’d ever intended. Kendran, guessing that Myles will make right his promises to wed her and save her from marrying the ancient groom her father has picked out for her, allows herself to become smitten. However, fate has a few surprises in store for the two lovers, and they discover that things are not always as they seem.
Jackie Ivie does not disappoint in her latest novel THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Writing with a wit and humor that will delight readers, Jackie Ivie provides a clever tale, bringing to mind the desperate plight of famed lovers Romeo and Juliet. Ivie’s characters pop, her setting is wonderfully authentic and the plot is fast paced and full of twists and turns that will have readers guessing until the very last page. The secondary characters of Kendran’s sisters bring magic and interest to the story, and the love of the hero and heroine is epic! THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS delivers what every romance reader wants: sheer, engrossing entertainment! I’ll be looking forward to reading the next book from this talented author.
