Paranormal Romance

TO TEMPT AN ANGEL by Marie Bellevaux

Caught in an act of vandalism, child Angelina Williams feared her life was about to come to an abrupt end. Instead, the image of the mysterious man she met that night changed her life and has haunted her every since. Fifteen years later, caught in a crowded London ballroom, Angelina suffered through her sixth season, and prayed it would be her last. Every man who courted her came up against her dream man and was found lacking.
Until now.

Count Roman Ivanovich had waited fifteen years for his mate to grow into womanhood. For fifteen years he endured an endless rest, so as not to give into temptation and answer the call of her blood. He would not put her life at risk for his wants. Awake once more, one glance at his love told him the effort was worth the wait. All he had to do was convince her that he was the one for her and they could live happily ever after.

Yet, nothing was ever that uncomplicated. He was a vampire, she a mortal. The power of being immortal allowed him to sneak into her dreams and the unconventional wooing gave him an add chance of winning her heart. But when another suitor tried to usurer his place, a member of the Society of Preternatural Discovery vowed to kill his kind, Roman feared he put his love in danger. It was time to pick up the pace and claim her as his own before it became too late.

I loved the idea of a vampire novel in this time period. Unfortunately, the story had a few too many modern terms and mannerisms to make this a credible historical piece. I did like the action scene between the villain and Roman. The secondary characters really set the tone of the book and enhanced the story one hundred percent. The writing needed to be smoothed out in some places, but the wonderful ending really wrapped up the book for me. If you are looking for the original vampire tales, this would be the novel for you.
