A young girl kept hidden for nineteen years under the control of her older sister, a man presumed dead for fifteen years held prisoner in the basement and the woman who held control over them brings the reader into this story not knowing what will happen next.
Lucretia Van Dare the oldest daughter of the late Garret Van Dare was owner of the Scarlett Bay Inn. A perfect paradise for tourists with it's beach front and lush forest but for Shadoe Madison, a police detective on vacation it was a hidden prison for two people.
A ragamuffin the seemed to find the shelter of the forest hr only refuge until she saw Madison intrigues the detective. Intrigues him more when he sees that she's not some little girl but a full grown woman, a beautiful woman.
What power did Lucretia have over her younger sister and what was the reason for her to keep her hidden behind that grotesque mask made Madison only want to know more. Was there really any credibility to the stories of ghosts or just hype for
the Inn.
Madison finds that this vacation is not a vacation at all and plunges him into another case of mystery, murder and romance.
The characters are believable and capture you immediately as you start the story. There are a few twists that will heighten your interest to find who really is the villain in the story. It's presented extremely well and recommend it for all who love a good mystery and romance.
