LOST LADY by Leanna Karella

Joe McIntyre was a gentle man everyone who knew him said he had a gift with all critters. His soft voice and easy going manner had a way of putting both human and animals at ease. He had come to the Double H years ago and Wyatt Harrison hired him, both he and Wyatt raised young Colton and after Wyatt passed on Colton and Joe were as close as brother’s. There wasn’t anything that Colton didn’t know about Joe or so he thought. There was a part of Joe that no one knew only Wyatt and one he wanted to keep tucked away in his past.

It was a hot day when Jennifer Smith came up the road toward the main house. She had walked from the bus and ran out of water a ways back. Tired and exhausted from the heat and lack of water the young woman collapsed right into Joe’s arms. It was soon obvious that their new house guest was named Jennifer Smith and she had some problem that made her cringe every time a man came near her and haunted her sleep.
Jennifer Smith had no memory of her past only that she awakened a few months ago in a hospital. The doctor’s had told her in time her memory would come back only Jennifer wanted to know when.

Joe wanted to help Jennifer and decided to give her a chance at the job and maybe the young woman would open up and let him help her, whatever the problem was. Jennifer was running from something what Joe wasn’t sure of but Joe also knew what it was like to be on the run. Could this soft spoken man somehow bring Jennifer’s memory back and what would she remember when it did come back. What was this young woman hiding and more so would she be able to open to Joe.

The story captures the reader from the start with it’s first chapter. With sudden flash backs to Jennifer’s past but just a glimpse to make one wonder was it real or just her imagination. The secondary characters, Colton and Cassie Harrison bring depth to Joe and one can feel the bond they have each other. I found it a lovely story that had a touch of mystery but not to overshadow the romance that is what the story is. I enjoyed it and recommend it.
