Whitney Benedict has no desire to get married. She does however have a mental picture of what her dream man would be like; the most important quality of her dream man is positively no baggage; no children, no ex-wife. When she travels to California to try to make a deal with Gabriel Mendoza to sell his ipizzan horses to the Austrian government, she realizes Gabriel is the mental picture she has had of the perfect mate, except he has all the added baggage.
Gabriel Mendoza is barely making ends meet; he is trying to raise three children without a wife; she left him and kids to go on the road. His mother is somewhat an eccentric, his ex-mother-in-law is trying to take two of the children away from him, and they are not his by blood. How here comes this female attorney with an offer which could change all of his problems. But can he sell his fathers dream and legacy without any regrets.
There are fireworks between Gabriel and Whitney from the starting gate. She has a tough time dealing with the craziness which is his family and his lifestyle. He thinks she is only there to close a business deal. But as they get to know each other, they begin to think they could have a future in spite of the differences.
This was a wonderful book. The characters invite the reader into their world like old pals. This book had family situations, romance, and quirky characters.
