Tiana has become a wood nymph after a betrayal by her lover Talon, God of Earth. She no longer trusts him with her heart, and in order to free herself from the pain of the rejection she felt from Talon she has chosen to become a wood nymph. As a wood nymph, she only lives for the moment, and difficulties she had before only came up for moments and then they were gone. It seemed like a perfect life, but sometimes Tiana still feels the pain…
Talon has been waiting for Tiana to heal for a long time, and now he thinks that they are both ready to move on with their lives… together. He knows without her his realm will die, because he can’t be happy without her, and when he’s not happy the land begins to feel the effects. After years of waiting, he’s finally ready to take matters into his own hands
I had a bit of difficulty liking The Elementals: God of Earth. I couldn’t get past the fact that because he said something hurtful to her in the heat of the moment she chose a life that would not include him and that forced her to live in the moment. That seemed very childish to me, and that meant I just didn’t have much sympathy for her plight. So he didn’t respect her enough? Make him! Turning into a wood nymph certainly isn’t going to do it! Talon didn’t seem to be very forceful either because he allowed her to make this decision and live with it for so long that earth begins to die. It seemed like a pretty rash decision to make. Over all, I didn’t really think that The Elementals: God of Earth was my kind of story, although the other books in the series I liked, this one didn’t seem to have the same kind of appeal for me.
