SOUL HUNTER by Melaine Wells

We first met University Professor and psychologist Dylan Foster in the first book of the Day of Evil series, When the Day of Evil Comes, where she encountered a flesh and bone demon Peter Terry. In book two, Soul Hunter, Peter Terry is still around and still on the prowl, seeking who he can. If you thought book one was riveting, wait until you read book two.

Dylan is languishing in a relationship with a very nice man who is almost too nice. Although she doesn’t mean to, she takes their relationship lightly by not paying attention to time and missing dates and such. Of course, you can hardly blame her after she discovers a bloodied handled axe on her front door stoop and comes under investigation by the police. Additionally she battles an infestation of rats in her apartment. And, Peter Terry is back to waking her in the early morning hours scaring the snot out of her. The bloody axe investigation doesn’t last long before another victim is found and the evidence points to accused murderer and convicted rapist Gordon Pryne. The trail to him is scattered with potholes and thresholds.

Dylan’s life is peppered with frightening incidents. In the pool, at work, in her bedroom. Her co-worker (I refuse to call him a peer) professor of what-makes-rats- run, is beyond creepy. Despite her flaws, Dylan tenaciously uses her mind, and instincts to discover who is behind supernatural battle raging around her, manifesting itself it in very creepy ways.

Dylan discovers the thread that can lead her to the truth, but the final battle is going to need every ounce of spiritual, emotional, and physical strength she has, will it be enough?

Ms. Wells writes with humor and keen spiritual insight. I like her books because they have deep truths and yet, I’m never bored. In fact, her books leave me physically tired. I bite my hand, pace, wiggle, gasp, hold my breath, all with my eyes glued to the story…..she is a masterful story teller.
