Jin is furious with his ancestor. During a ceremony, his grandfather had possessed him and forced him to propose to a thief that not only interrupted them during a ceremony, but was intent upon stealing the phoenix, which is the worst crime she could have committed against his family. Never mind that he finds her attractive, she’s only base born and can’t possibly be the one that is destined for him, can she?
Francesca and Jin each have their own agenda. Jin wants to understand what is going on with his ancestors, in particular why his grandfather thinks a thief would make a good wife. Francesca wants revenge for the wrongs done to her mentor. Neither one of them wanted to fall in love…
The interaction between Francesca and Jin is wonderful; I really enjoyed Francesca’s character. She’s a strong, resourceful woman who knows that she can find her way out of almost anything. She finds herself caught in something that she doesn’t understand, so when Jin insists that he has to marry her, she’s as confused about his motives as he is. Seduction of the Phoenix has great dialog and a gripping story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and is definitely a keeper.
