MIRROR OF MY SOUL by Joey Hill

Just when she started to think that she could have a relationship, Marguerites childhood is coming back to haunt her. She’d thought that she might have found that special someone with Tyler, but when she’s with him it’s getting harder and harder to push back the memories of what was done to her as a child. With the darkness of her childhood looming before her, she’s not sure that she can face it, but Tyler won’t let her back down.

Tyler is determined to not give up on Marguerite, not just because wants her, but because he needs her to complete him and make him whole. He’s had a tragic past as well, and he needs Marguerite to keep the demons at bay. No matter how hard she fights it, he is going to do everything in his power to make sure that they stay together for both their sakes.

I really liked the very beginning where Joey Hill explains what is going on so that if you haven’t read the first story, you will still understand what the issues are so far with Marguerite and Tyler. They are two much wounded people that are struggling to have a relationship. It’s a very dark story, Marguerite has had a horrible childhood that she’s never recovered from, and it’s talked about in detail, along with the BDSM. It’s not for the faint of heart. Tyler has had his own demons to fight, so the two of them have to find a way to be together and be whole. I found myself fascinated with what was going on, and couldn’t force myself to put it down, even at 1:00 in the morning! I kept telling myself… just one more page, and before I knew it I was finished and wishing for more. “Mirror of My Soul” is not a light hearted romance that you can read and forget, it can make you uncomfortable at times because of what is happening between Marguerite and Tyler. I think that’s a sign of a good author when they are able to create that feeling and still get you to read the book and enjoy it. The characters are fascinating, completely different from what I thought they were going to be in the beginning of the story. “Mirror of My Soul” is a dark, captivating story that I couldn’t put down and that shouldn’t be missed.
