A MATTER OF CHOICE by Natalie J. Damschroder

Maggie isn’t sure that she wants to be soul mates with Devon even though it seems to be out of her hands. The worst part of this whole mating thing is the lack of choice in the mate. She’ll never know now if she and Devon would have fallen in love, because now they are stuck with each other. It’s extremely frustrating to her, and she’s been going out of her way to avoid Devon because of it. She thinks she doesn’t care, but when Devon gets captured by a woman that’s determined to have him, she suddenly wakes up to the fact that she really does want this relationship. Now she has to get to Devon before it’s too late, and hope that he still wants her.

Devon has tried everything to keep their relationship going. He really believes in the soul mate thing and had hoped that it would be everything he’s been told. Now that Maggie seems less and less involved, and he’s starting to wonder if it’s worth it. When he’s captured by a woman who’s been obsessed with him, he can only hope that Maggie will come to his rescue, regardless of her feelings.

Elemental Passion is the first in this series, and it I think that it really should be read in order to understand what is going on between Devon and Maggie. Even though the past story is somewhat explained, some of the rituals and reasons the characters use might seem odd unless you read the first in the series. Maggie is resentful of the magic that brought them together, and I can understand and only imagine that such a strong woman would want to be in charge of her own life. Devon is patient and faithful, and it was interesting to see the dynamics of the relationship moving forward and how they each handled their frustration. I really enjoyed reading A Matter Of Choice, and I think that it’s a great book that shouldn’t be missed.
