BELIEVE THE MAGIC by Melani Blazer

Ella Mansfield was bored with her life. She had a no end job, no boyfriend, an old apartment and no close friends. She needed a life. Her unasked plea was answered in the most unexpected way. Determined to give her niece the best Halloween costume ever, Ella headed toward the shop ‘Treasures of the Past’. The instant her foot crossed the threshold, Ella had a premonition her life would never be the same. When the antique dealer bestowed a beaded necklace on her, claiming it was magic, all Ella wanted to do was leave. Immediately.

Only, the instant she tired to remove the blasted necklace, the darn thing shocked her! Furious but too rushed for time to worry over it, she left it in place. But her life has been turned upside down and Ella was starting to believe that just maybe, magic exists. Especially when sexy Quentin Paige popped in her life unexpectedly, complicating her life and has her questioning her beleifs. Together, they end up racing against time, for the war of magic was coming to a head and Ella’s necklace was the key to winning. But who are the good guys?

Learning to cope with her new magical abilities was not all it was cracked up to be. Add one determined guardian, one sexy man bent on seduction, one magical fairy, and the ultimate source of evil, Ella must learn to believe in herself and magic, to survive. Each time she started to trust someone, betrayal would turn her world on its ear once more. Could, what she fear was the love of her life, actually be one of the bad guys sent to destroy her? Or was her love alone enough to ultimately save both their lives?

Believe the Magic is a wonderful story to read, effortlessly taking you away from your world and into another. A lot of action kept this story moving forward at a fast pace. I found I needed to read every page closely to make sense of everything, but it was well worth the effort. The characters didn’t always feel constant, but the humor and Ella’s quirky character, ultimately give this book the extra oomph it needed to come out on top. If you are looking for a different twist to magic and a heroine you can sympathies with, make sure you check out Believe the Magic.
