Former accountant Annie Gadbaum goes to work as a bartender at the club called Deep Whispers. She has tossed the suits from her former corporate world. Annie goes to work in a party girl wardrobe. She loves being around people and is very good at her job and bringing in new customers. Her boss Ridge Warrick is very intrigued about her. One night Annie forgets her cell phone and Ridge follows her home to return it. She feeds him lasagna and it’s the first time another person has cooked for him in ages. Ridge feels very much at home with Annie. She also answered the door wearing pajamas with a puppy dog print which he found charming. Ridge is looking for a down-to-earth woman to settle down with. Will he realize Annie is really a homebody rather than the party girl she dresses as for work?
The characters of Annie and Ridge are engaging enjoyable people. I found
Annie especially charming as she comes into her own and really begins
enjoying her life in an environment more suited to her true nature.
There is so much heat between Annie and Ridge. That part of the story is
beautifully written by Ms. Winter and she keeps the anticipation and
sexual edginess high throughout the story. The story of Annie and Ridge
is very entertaining.
