Lacy is working at a bar on most nights, until she gets done with school. She makes good money at it; but she’s relieved that she’ll be able to quit when she starts her new job. She can’t afford for anything to go wrong right now, because her daughter is sick and she has to work in order to afford the hospital bills. When she meets Wyatt, he intrigues her like no one has done in a long time, and that made her think that she might be able to use him to take her mind off her problems, if only for one night. It goes disastrously wrong, and she is sure she won’t be seeing him again, until she finds out he works at the same company she just hired on at.
Wyatt goes to the rodeo and competes on occasion to clear his head and have some fun. This weekend was no different, until he meets Lacy. He’s turned on the instant he sees her, and hopes that he will get lucky. When the night ends in disaster, he doesn’t think he will see her again. Until he finds out that she’s one of his new employees.
I enjoyed "Tall, Dark Cowboy", but it seemed to lack the spark that keeps me reading deep into the night when I have a really good book. Lacy and Wyatt felt a little flat to me, I couldn’t see them as real people. I found it hard to really care about what happened to the two, because Lacy just seemed incredibly stubborn and Wyatt seemed a little thick sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, the book has a lot of great moments and is definitely worth a try if you like this kind of cowboy romance. There is some tragedy with Lacy’s daughter, a lousy ex, and a host of misunderstandings that kept me entertained till the end.
