TO KISS A GARGOYLE by Sally Painter

Marcy Townsend was fascinated with the gargoyle statue outside her office window. For three years her fantasies have run ramped, to the point of overtaking her life. She even researched the statues origins, and created a fairytale life where she would rescue him from his bleak and cursed existence. Desperate to touch the stone creature that so captivated her, Marcy risked her life by climbing outside the forty-fourth floor window for just one touch. But one touch is not enough.

Cursed forever to be a gargoyle, Leonardo has waited 400 years for his freedom. The instant he saw Marcy, he knew she was special. The moment she spoke his name, he knew she was his mate. From the second she touched him, he knew he would give up eternity for her. As the witch who cursed him comes back to extract her revenge, he might have to do just that to save Marcy’s life. Or will Marcy’s love be enough to save them both from a life damned without each other?

This interesting story shows off Sally Painter’s creative talent to its best advantage. Some of the writing felt more author intrusion instead of the characters own voice. It drew me out of the story a bit, but not enough for me to put down the book. I liked the story, enjoyed the characters, but would have liked to have seen a little more interaction between Marcy and Leonardo. The sexual tension was hot and remained high throughout this short piece, enough for every woman’s fantasies to take flight. For a short afternoon read to kick up the heat a notch, check out To Kiss A Gargoyle.
